Abstract
In an interview with Adam Cotterell conducted on November 27, 2017, Mona Carrole Lindeen discusses her family’s ownership of 20th Century Lanes. Mona discusses how the business evolved through changes in the ownership of the business complex, her family’s involvement in management, and the popularity of bowling as a pastime.
Mona describes how her father first got into the business in 1954 with the purchase of a partnership in a bowling center located at 606 Idaho Street and his subsequent purchase of a second bowling business located at 1212 Idaho Street. Around 1960 he drafted plans for a 24-lane bowling center to be built in a new business complex off State Street under the ownership of Ron Yanke. The two downtown locations were moved to the new location and the businesses were combined to create 20th Century Lanes.
