Abstract
In an interview with Troy Reeves on July 7, 1998, Stanley Burns discusses his involvement in creating the Greenbelt Committee. He begins by explaining how he inadvertently became active in Boise’s land conservation movement by joining the Ada County Fish and Game League to discover the best fishing spots in town. He describes how he put his efforts into advocating for a greenbelt after discovering the Atkinson Report of 1964 that recommended the construction of a pathway along the Boise River. Stanley discusses the committee’s actions and the issues they ran into in the early years of development, including the reduction in the setback of the path due to push back from property developers and owners.
