Abstract
In an interview with Troy Reeves on August 3, 1998, Orland Mayer discusses his involvement with the Greenbelt Committee beginning in 1969 when Mayor Jay Amyx appointed him. He describes how his involvement with the Recreation Committee led him to working on the Greenbelt Plan, how the San Antonio Greenbelt informed their ideas, his positive view of what the Greenbelt has developed into, the conflict of having horses on the pathway, and the helpful promotion of the plan that the newspapers provided. Orland recounts his memories of what the Boise River was like when he moved to the area in 1929. He also discusses how the Greenbelt has benefited property owners, the accomplishment of acquiring the Quinn Robinson property, and the cooperation of the different governments and organizations that allowed the project to be successful.
