She grew up in the North End Neighborhood attending Longfellow Elementary School, North Junior High, and graduating from Boise High School. She attended the University of Oregon to study voice and opera for two years before transferring to the University of Idaho with her future husband Dick Wilcomb where she continued studying opera. After graduating with a BA in Music, Dick and Patricia went back to Boise where they were married in 1948.
