Biographical / Historical

The Central Rim Neighborhood is located between Orchard Avenue on the west and Emerald Street to the south. The neighborhood itself developed from a rural setting due to its isolation from Boise proper by the Boise River. As transportation systems in Boise grew, the neighborhood developed with families seeking rural homes not too far from the city. The neighborhood remained fairly rural until the middle of the 20th century.

This collection is the product of Laurie "Lou" Engelhardt's desire to understand water rights as it pertains to the Central Rim Neighborhood in an effort to solve irrigation problems.
