Materials received in 2016 were processed as an addition, the artifacts were separated, and a preliminary description was drafted. The arrangement scheme for the collection was imposed during processing in the absence of an original order into five series: Series 1 Family Documents and Ephemera; Series 2 Scrapbooks; Series 3 James Howland Correspondence; Series 4 Photographs; Series 5 Postcards.
