Scope and Contents The Byrne, Clawson, Virgil Families Papers consist of correspondence, land deeds, high school reunion programs, receipts and invoices, funeral ephemera, business documents, sports books, photographs, and postcards to, from, and relating to the Byrne, Clawson, and Virgil families of Boise, Idaho and Morris County, New Jersey and the collateral and descendent families of Hodgin, Gibson, and Howland. The collection consists of 14 postcards primarily depicting downtown Boise. Noteably the postcards depict Arrow Rock Dam, High School Park, the Natatorium, the Y.M.C.A building, Boise High School, the Boise Depot, the Federal Building, Main Street, view from Owyhee Hotel, and the Idaho State Capitol building.

This collection contains postcards, photographic prints of downtown Boise, an American Legion pamphlet, newspaper clippings, a copy of the Grapevine Newsletter, Village News, and Old West Newspaper from Time Magazine. The material was collected by the Eby's while living in Boise.

Content Description

This collection contains postcards with black and white images depicting different parts of the completed Arrowrock Dam with handwritten captions explaining some parts and required maintenance. Also included are two postcards with images of the Shoshone Ice Caves in Shoshone, Idaho.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains correspondence, cards, photographic prints and negatives, advertisements, bills, and ephemera. The bulk of the collection is comprised of correspondence and cards addressed to Mary dated between 1942-1968. A significant portion of the correspondence is from 1956, when Mary’s mother Edith and sister Hazel traveled to Chicago. Correspondents include Edith McCarthy, Hazel McCarthy, William McCarthy, Mrs. Kenneth Lingley, Blanch McCarthy, and Frank "Tex" Branning.
