The collection consists of 14 postcards primarily depicting downtown Boise. Noteably the postcards depict Arrow Rock Dam, High School Park, the Natatorium, the Y.M.C.A building, Boise High School, the Boise Depot, the Federal Building, Main Street, view from Owyhee Hotel, and the Idaho State Capitol building.

Abstract Donald R. Brennan started service on the city council in 1988, when Dirk Kempthorne had been mayor for two years. Abstract Ralph McAdams served on Boise City Council from 1974 to 1985 during the heyday of urban renewal in Boise. The local government and business leaders were intent on bringing a mall to the downtown and did not consider any other real alternative to redevelopment.
