Abstract
In his interview with Alicia Martin-Cowger on July 14, 2010, Mitch Caldwell, who served with the Boise Fire Department, offered his memories of his career as a firefighter. Caldwell’s career with BFD began in 1989 after more than a decade with the Garden City Police Department. At the time of this interview, he served as Deputy Chief of Logistics. He spoke on the following topics: his experiences as a police officer in homicide, recruitment and training of new firefighters, his reasons for entering the fire service, his impressions and memories of medical calls, his introduction into firefighting as a volunteer with Cole-Collister, his position in administration, firehouse pranks and rivalries, and the impact of his police experience on his career in fire.
