Abstract
In an interview with Alicia Martin-Cowger on July 10, 2010, Connie Coulter discusses her career with the Boise Fire Department beginning in 1994. At the time of the interview Connie was still currently employed with BFD. Topics covered in the interview include: her transition from teaching to firefighting; the interview and physical test process; new hire training; the integration of women into the department; her experience with different captains; a fire at the Idaho State Capitol; the changes the department has undergone; memorable fires and medical calls she responded to; her impression of how the union and department administration worked to accomplish things; and her responsibilities as a hoseman and a typical day at the station.
