Abstract
In his interview with Gaby Thomason on July 17, 2018, Bruce Rankin, who served as a Boise firefighter, offered his memories of working from the years 1988-2012. In that time, Rankin served as a probationary firefighter, hoseman, driver, captain, battalion chief, and operations division chief. Rankin spoke on the following topics: How he came to join the fire department; extensive and ongoing fire department training; signs for knowing when to get out of a building; memorable house and car fires; mentally preparing for a fire call; and coping with difficult situations.
