Abstract
In their interview with Gaby Thomason on July 11, 2018, Norm Thorngren who served as a Boise firefighter, and his wife, Joyce, offered their memories of Norm’s time working with the department from the years 1962-1984. In that time, Norm served as a firefighter, driver, captain, and assistant battalion chief. Their granddaughter, Briana Flaherty, was also present. Thorngren spoke on the following topics: Balancing family life with work; the service of helping his community; starting pay vs. ending pay; working as assistant battalion chief before they took the position out; booster trucks and the “batman;” playing on the station basketball team; how he got his nickname “Moses”; and firehouse pranks.
