Scope and Contents
This collection documents Irving Warren Hart Jr.’s career as Editor of The Idaho Statesman for 13 years and as Chief Information Officer of the Selective Service System from 1940 to 1954. It also contains personal material including manuscripts, vital records, and family photographs. A significant topic represented in this collection is the first peacetime draft lottery which occurred in 1940, prior to U.S. entry into World War II. Also represented in the collection are two editions of The Idaho Statesman staff publications, The Idaho Stateswoman and The Idaho Editorman.
